What is an Open Forum?

An Open Forum is a gathering of friends for the purpose of interacting on significant life and God issues. It is an authentic, stimulating discussion about basic life issues, not a Bible study, lecture series, or theological debate.

The objective is to help us all examine our philosophy of life. Many people have never carefully evaluated their beliefs, and the Open Forum provides a comfortable environment to do this.

TOPICS LIKELY TO BE DISCUSSED...

  1. If belief in God is valid, why are there so many hypocrites?
  2. Is there really a God, or is belief in God just a psychological crutch for those who need emotional support?
  3. Why would an all-loving, all-powerful I God let bad things happen to good people?
  4. Isn't it narrow, arrogant, and intolerant for some people to claim their way is the only way to God?
  5. Is there an afterlife? If so, how good do you have to be to get there?
  6. ...and anything else about God and life.

THE MODERATOR WILL BEGIN EACH DISCUSSION WITH THREE PROMISES:

1.    This will be a free and open discussion - disagreement and controversy are welcome (we can agree to disagree agreeably),

2.    The discussion will last 59 minutes - the time will fly! - and...

3.    After everyone has had a chance to toss in their opinion on whatever issue we're discussing, he'll offer a Biblical perspective on that issue as one of the options to be considered (he'll welcome you to disagree with his opinion as well),

You don't need to bring anything to this discussion except for your own questions and opinions - feel free to jump in or just listen.
